Cancer Rose Diagram

This graphic was an assignment for my information design class at UC Davis. In that class, we had previously learned about the rose diagram designed by Florence Nightingale from 1858-59.

For this particular assignment, we were given a table with various cancer percentages of women from 2007 (shown in second picture). We were assigned to create a visual graphic to represent that data. I decided that creating a rose diagram would be visually interesting, and would portray the information successfully. I calculated the correct diameter for each slice to correctly represent the data, and wrote the copy using plain language to appeal to a wide audience.
