Bauhaus Poster Design

This Piece was designed for the Adobe Hidden Treasures poster contest in 2018. The premise of the challenge is the design a poster in the Bauhaus style using one of three newly released  Bauhaus Dessau fonts. I chose to create a poster for the (fictional) Cat Cafe, Purrl Tea's grand opening.

I had already designed a logo for Purrl Tea for Adobe's Bauhaus logo challenge; pictured second. For the logo I used the shapes from the Bauhaus font Joschmi to create the cat shape, alongside a modified form of Joschmi to spell out "Purrl Tea." I changed the semicircles of the r, e, and a into circles to emulate the boba balls found in pearl tea.

To utilize my logo into a poster layout, I chose to pump up the intensity and enlarge everything, and overlap the copy in a way so it appears the cat is drinking the circles from the letterforms through a straw. I then used font CarlMarx for the supporting text. For some extra interest I added some shapes into the background and overlaid the whole poster with a grungy texture.
